SIGHT AND SOUND MAGAZINE COVERS
SIGHT AND SOUND magazine usually focuses on BRITISH INDEPENDANT FILMS, so this would be the magazine we would use as an inspiration. The background always seems to follow a dingy grey/white colour, possibly to keep the focus on the main image and titling as to promote the film it is focusing on as best it can, as it is not as popular a magazine as EMPIRE and TOTAL FILM.
The title of the magazine is always in the top left side, standing out with it's bright yellow background and bold titling. The yellow, red, white and black film is carried across the entireity of the front cover so as the audience relate this colour scheme to this magazine.
The images used always appear to be naturalistic, sticking to the realism of the films it promotes. It stands out from other film magazines as it is not in your face. It's target audience will be movie-goers and "film-buffs" and does not seem to aim to engage a larger audience, as its material is very focused on British independant films, a genre that does not appeal to the majority.

MICRO ANALYSIS OF MAGAZINE COVERS
TOTAL FILM MAGAZINE ANALYSIS
TOTAL FILM magazine focused on big upcoming blockbuster hits, and it is shown through it's bold colouring, constant use of celebrities as it's central image, and it's plentiful use of interviews and reviews. It's title is always at the top of the page in a bold, white/red font and is frequently covered by the central image as the title is well known.
It is usally opted that the main film featured in the magazine is in bold, fairly big font in the middle of the magazine, so as to attract audiences, both loyal and new. The market for this magazine is bigger than many film magazines as it is big films that most people would have seen advertised that are the main features of the magazines. It will also attract fans on the actors/actresses as their faces can clearly be seen standing out on the front of the magazine
